Job Overview:
The Vice President of Engineering will lead and oversee the engineering/delivery department of our IT consulting services/Digital Transformation Services, driving technical innovation, operational excellence, and delivery quality. The VP of Engineering will be responsible for setting and executing the technical vision, leading the engineering team, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring that solutions align with business objectives and customer needs. This executive role will shape engineering strategies to support growth, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
• Define and execute the technical roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
• Work closely with executive leadership to establish and drive the company’s vision, mission, and goals.
• Lead initiatives to adopt new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies that enhance the Organizational competitive edge.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and digital transformation opportunities to enhance the company’s offerings and operational capabilities.
2. Team Management & Development:
• Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Streamline the processes for hiring, onboarding, professional development, and performance evaluation.
• Promote an inclusive and diverse engineering culture that encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Create professional growth opportunities for team members to enhance technical and leadership skills.
3. Operational Excellence:
• Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and timelines to ensure that deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
• Develop and implement processes that improve team efficiency and productivity, such as coding standards, testing practices, and Agile methodologies.
• Establish and track metrics to evaluate engineering productivity, quality, and efficiency.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering quality, velocity, and overall performance.
• Drive operational improvements by implementing best practices for software development, DevOps, and quality assurance by recommending tools or processes that enhance team performance.
4. Customer & Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Act as a technical point of contact for key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring solutions are designed to meet those needs.
• Present technology initiatives and progress to the leadership team as needed.
• Partner with Operations, Sales, Marketing and Customer Success teams to align engineering efforts with customer needs and business strategy.
• Facilitate effective communication between engineering and other departments to ensure customer requirements are met with quality and efficiency.
5. Technical Leadership:
• Lead architectural decision-making to enforce robust design principles and coding standard.
• Encourage innovation within the engineering team and identify opportunities for improving products and services through advanced technology.
• Ensure security, scalability, and maintainability of products and solutions.
6. Budget & Resource Management:
• Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget, optimizing spending without compromising quality.
• Ensure the efficient use of tools, infrastructure, and personnel to maximize the engineering team’s output.
7. Risk Management & Compliance:
• Mitigate risks related to technical debt, system downtime, and compliance issues.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and security requirements to ensure all solutions remain compliant and competitive.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
• 15+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership roles with a proven track record of managing large teams and delivering successful projects.
• Strong technical background in software development and familiarity with modern technologies, architecture, and engineering practices.
• Experience in an IT services or SaaS environment preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
